چکیده
With the spread of pollinosis caused by sugi (Japanese cedar, Cryptomeria japonica) pollen, use pollen-free somatic seedlings is expected in Japan. However, there a lack knowledge on relationship between abilities during embryogenesis, initial vitro growth traits, and subsequent seedlings. In present study, we provide first basic information embryo maturation efficiency, germination, plantlet conversion frequencies, as well performance plantlets derived from different embryogenic cell lines (ECLs). Somatic efficiency varied 34 to 514 cotyledonary embryos per plate average for 19 ECLs tested was 244 plate. Subsequently, overall rates germination among were 87.8% 85.3%, respectively. The results showed significant differences rate ECLs.

Germination inhibitor from the Japanese cedar Cryptomeria japonica.
(1S,6R)-2,7(14),10-Bisabolatrien-1-ol-4-one was identified as a germination inhibitor from the methanol extract of Japanese cedar wood, Cryptomeria japonica. The occurrence of this compound in 1 g fresh wood was 2.0 mg, and showed a maximum of 60% germination inhibition at the dose of 20 mg/filter paper (157 microg/cm(2)) against both of lettuce and rice seeds for 4 d. A selective activity betw...
متن کاملAntifeedants against Acusta despesta from the Japanese cedar, Cryptomeria japonica.
During our studies on the components in Japanese cedar, Cryptomeria japonica, we found that the crude methanol extract of C. japonica showed intense antifeeding activity against one snail species, Acusta despesta, which is well-known as a pest of many vegetables and crops. The active components in the extract were separated into the hexane and ethyl acetate soluble fractions. From the active et...
متن کاملChemical composition and antifungal activity of essential oils from different tissues of Japanese Cedar (Cryptomeria japonica).
In this study antifungal activities of essential oils from different tissues of Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don) against four wood decay fungi and six tree pathogenic fungi were investigated. In addition, the yields of essential oils obtained by water distillation were compared and their constituents determined by GC-MS analyses. The yield of essential oils from four tissues of Japa...
متن کاملPossible role of climate change in the pollen scatter of Japanese cedar Cryptomeria japonica in Japan
We conducted an atmospheric pollen survey using a Durham sampler from 1983 through 1998 in Toyama City, Japan. We investigated yearly changes in the pollen season of Japanese cedar Cryptomeria japonica and analyzed the relationships between climatic factors and changes in the pollen counts. The results were as follows: (1) The first day of the Japanese cedar pollen season advanced from mid-Marc...
متن کاملGender differences in the psychophysiological effects induced by VOCs emitted from Japanese cedar (Cryptomeria japonica)
BACKGROUND Wood is a valuable material for interiors, and the psychophysiological relaxation effects of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from wood chips and essential oils have been reported. However, few studies have identified the odors in full-scale wooden environment, and also, differences in gender have not been clarified. In this study, we aimed to confirm the effects of VOCs emitted fro...
